[mslee's thoughts] GIF - Producers Episode 6 Falling Into Some Kind of Accident

Interesting episode again.

Talks about accidents with regards to variety programs that usually happens when you least expected it. For PDs who review the films it takes at least three turns until the film is ready for public viewing. But in this case, in this episode, the town's name was typed wrong and it was already airing when they all noticed it. Yeah, that is what they call "accident" in their world. Unexpected, error, something that can never be taken back until the next airing when they can insert an apology and correct what was an accident.

The accident caused ratings anticipation dropped to only 6.8%  which was actually Seung Chan's assumption and backed up by his gut feel because of his studies on variety programs.

Of course, this is like an skeptical view but turned out precise. It was an accident that put so much stress on PD Joon Mo discovering the the KBS President lives in that place.

But regarding the accident that happened between Joon Mo and Ye Jin, that slip of the tongue where she said he kissed her [then Seung Chan telling him she likes him] was an event that Joon Mo treated as an accident. Accident because he chose to ignore the complication it would bring and that he really thinks it was a revelation that she also may want to forget and call accident.

Joon Mo continued to pretend nothing was unusual between them but Ye Jin soon caught up with his denials when she talked about the blind date. His  mother was asking her to push Joon Mo to go to the blind date. She only did what she was told because his mother talked of going to his place and live there until he agreed. Of course, Ye Ji could not let her do it and be found out that she lives there with him .

Joon Mo told her he had the blind date which was a lie. He told her he went ot the 2nd blind date and that's when she knew he had been lying to her. It was to make her think he has a love life but then why go to so much trouble. It was when she realized that Joon Mo knew all along what she talked suddenly during the night she got so drunk. He heard right. He knew she likes him. Now he is protecting himself from being romantically involved with her. Okay, maybe the kiss he did to her meant nothing but then taking it far by lying about having a new interest is going to far. He made her feel unwanted. And that is what makes it uncomfortable between them.

For the next days they avoided each other, or more precise, Ye Jin tried not to see him. He waited at the house. Then Ye Jin's brother [dongsaeng] told him about how Ye Jin asked him to find a two room for both of them. He then told Joon Mo that it was something Ye Jin wanted him to know because if she really wanted to move out she will do the house hunting herself. As the brother classified it, it was now on Joon Mo's hand's whether he do something about it or stop them from moving out.

But then Joon Mo saw her arriving walking with Seung Chan down the streets. That resulted to him telling her to do whatever she wants after confronting her about finding another place to go. Yes, the situation has turned uncomfortable for them. The words came out a bit harsh but it was said in anger due to what he witnessed. That Ye Jin and Seung Chan are having a good time while walking home.

Literal accident happened in the studio prepping up for a Big Event.

Ye Jin is the PD and Cindy is one of the performers. There was Lee Seung Gi appearing as himself. Love how he mocked his character as one who is know for being courteous and kind person and then talking about to Cindy how he must protect his image. lol. I like how Seung Gi and Seung Chan was introduced by Ye Jin. Seung Chan finds him too friendly it annoys him that he even vandalized Seung Gi's room in the studio. So childish, lol.

Cindy and her manager are not on the same wavelength. The manager tries to read what she says and came up wrong. Actually, on different days, it should be alright but now, Cindy is into rookie PD Seung Chan. She wanted to see him. Of course, she had time with Seung Chan who only see her as one of the guest.

What she did not realized, her expressions changed when he was there. Even her manager noticed it and her smiles. While prepping her up in the studio, riding the lift, it was a cute and romantic scene for both of them but only Cindy felt the heightened atmosphere.

Cindy was too busy listening to her earphones that she never saw the huge stage props moving towards her. Ye Jin was able to push her out of the way. Ye Jin ended up colliding with the stage props.

Seung Chan ran literally to the nearest hospital where Ye Jin was brought. But to his disappointment and a bit of shock found Cindy on the hospital bed. She injured her ankle and some when she landed inside the pocket lift. He saw Ye Jin outside, with bruises but because she is not a star she was put aside in favor of Cindy. Seung Chan seemed relived that she is okay. Text messages were forwarded about the accident to everyone. Joon Mo got one but ignored it thinking it was not important. Later he learned that Ye Jin was in an accident. He hurried up to the hospital and when he saw her instead of telling her his worries, he said he went to ask about Cindy.

Clearly, he is not opening himself to her He must be in denial or he is afraid of the consequences if he tells her his feelings. Ye Jin of course was hurt, She cried. She thought Joon Mo is acting very uncomfortable with her now that their friendship is turning sour. It hurts her that her one sided feelings that was discovered is now a burden to him.

Well, I am liking the chemistry between Cindy and Seung Chan just as I like Ye Jin with Joon Mo. But the twist is now starting on Seung Chan expressing his kind of accident to Ye Jin. He kind of finds himself in an accident with her. He hugged her as he told her his growing feelings or maybe attraction towards her.

Can I say that maybe it was not really attraction but Seung Chan wants to protect her now that she is powerless and hurting because of Joon Mo who seems can not reciprocate her feelings. I like for Cindy to show more of her feelings to Seung Chan and be bold a bout it. Maybe Seung Chan will be dumbfounded and then realized he also likes her. Ah writernim, this is turning to be complicated, but I am loving this. Any way, it is good.

[mslee's thoughts] GIF - Producers Episode 5 It's all About What to Edit or Not

And I thought this episode is a bit boring from the previous ones but the key word "edit" has been the highlight of the episode.

EDITING
What to edit? How to edit?

[according to PD Joon Mo]

Towards the ending, it all came down to what must be retained. It is a choice between good and better. Literally, when it comes to media, it has to choose what will be the best scene out of all the good scenes. That's why good editing is a must because it is where the continuity of the story shows and it can either be bad or excellent editing.

But of course, there are too many scenes that are hard to let go but an editor must only choose what is most needed.

ROMANCE

Is there such a thing as editing?

I find myself pondering on the thoughts PD Ra Joon Mo said to rookie Seung Chan. Between good and better, it has to be the better one.

The episode showed that both Seung Chan and PD Ye Jin got so drunk they could not remember what happened that night. She talked about Joon Mo and his blind date that hurts her in her drunken state. Then she lost consciousness. And this naive Seung Chan followed up that statement with "she likes you" or something like that and then he too fell asleep.

What would Joon Mo do in that situation? He sure was not drunk, maybe tipsy but he has full control of his memories. Next day he decided to play dumb, to pretend he was also drunk the night before and he remembered nothing.

Ye Jin woke up regretting getting drunk. She knew she turned into a mess once alcohol got over her. And so she asked Seung Chan if he heard her say weird things that were certified "lies", to save herself. Being naive is not always for Seung Chan. Of course, he knew what she really feels towards Joon Mo but because she insisted that they were lies, he chose to agree with her. His task was to confirm if Joon Mo remembers anything or that he was too drunk.

Stalking his PD, he thought he got the right answer. He never realized Joon Mo could have been playing dumb and pretending to avoid facing the truth he found out. The episode almost ends when Seung Chan realized Joon Mo was really not drunk that night. He chose to forget. He chose to edit the memories from his head.

WHY?
my thoughts...

I think his explanations is also about his coward way of facing Ye Jin and her feelings for him. To protect himself, their friendship, he chose to edit out the good part of knowing she likes him for a long time now and decided to retain the better option of forgetting the romance and stick to friendship only.

Between good and better, it has to be better. Well, no complications. But one thing, this is not a movie or a program. This is reality and romance. One can not edit out the good things and just be contented with the better memories. Because they are a collective scenes from the friendship that has developed and progressed through the years. Editing out the good ones is like forgetting the good old memories that resulted to better and best moments yet to come.

-------

Once caught, Joon Mo now will have to realize and accept that he heard Ye Jin right that night. I love the connection of the word edit to romance. And I think Seung Chan is putting much effort in caring towards Ye Jin than he thinks. It was like he wanted her spared of hurt.

Then there is Cindy, the brat [well it comes with how she was treated by her agency] who faced the truth that she has no friends. Seung Chan who only wanted her to be at ease gave her a book and some music to help her sleep, is now making her  think of him. Little by little an attraction is growing and it is as of now a one sided feeling.

I like the chemistry between Cha Tae Hyun and Gong Hyo Jin. I think their characters are really suited to them and the love line is better. Kind of matured romance. A love that could have been there since the very beginning but was ignored in favor of comfortable friendship.

With Seung Chan, he has a tendency to develop a romantic feelings towards his sunbaes. And I think seeing the vulnerable side of Ye Jin, his protective instinct comes out.

For Cindy, this will be a long struggle, experiencing some kind of new found romance. She can be hurt waiting for Seung Chan and his undivided attention.

Weary and a bit grumpy, yet Cindy wanted to do what she had to do, while Seung Chan being a rookie sticks to the rule. He is a bookie.

Sure the staff knew Seung Chan will give Cindy a hard time which worried PD Joon Mo.

Endless negotiations, favors between PD and agency CEO

The intriguing Da Jung and her easy camaraderie with idols which is a surprise to Ye Jin. But Da Jung is also an interesting character. Snob, yet has the ability to stay in this world and confident enough to do her job despite her irritating manner. lol

Ye Jin trying to be friendly and coax Seung Chan to spy for her. Always checking him if he will make a mistake of spilling her secret living with Joon Mo.

Annoyed at how Cindy did not noticed her or recognized her because she had no make up on!

What is K-drama without drinking scenes and gatherings?

Cute and crazy Ye Jin when drunk!

Cindy passing them on the streets. She looked envious of the fun and crazy camaraderie between these PDs.

Morning after!

Grumpy Joon Mo. Seeing Seung Chan dead asleep on his couch. It was like his house has been invaded and it no longer his. Or maybe a bit jealous because Seung Chan keeps on appearing at his house? hmmmm....

The Task!

But first it was all lies. She lied about what she must have said the night before. Convincing Seung Chan who easily gave in even if he knew otherwise.

Know if Joon Mo knew about her lies...
